Vipers Out to Seek Redemption

Vipers SC vs Maroons

Following a disappointing 3-1 away defeat to URA FC last week, Vipers SC will aim at getting back to winning ways as they welcome Maroons today at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The Venoms had a chance to go seven points clear on top of the summit following KCCA’s slip against Express but URA kept the title race wide open.

Vipers host Maroons who also lost their previous fixture 1-0 at home to Busoga United leaving Coach Douglas Bamweyana wary of his job at the club.

Bamweyana who is on borrowed time at the Prison custodians was given three matches to fight for job but failed the first task against the Jinja stubborn students. This game finds him in a must-win situation.

Bamweyana’s Maroons are still not safe from relegation as this fixture finds them sitting 13th, with only 24 points from the previous 23 matches.

The reverse fixture at Luzira ended 1-1 but Maroons went on to register the match as a loss following a boardroom decision after being accused of fielding an ineligible player (Hanington Sebwalunyo) who was supposed to serve suspension after accumulating three yellow cards.

According to the Vipers SC website, striker Tito Okello will not be in the match day squad following a nasty injury he suffered during the barren draw with KCCA.

Bobosi Byaruhanga and Frank Tumwesigye are in line to return having sat out of match against URA in Bombo.

Skipper Halid Lwaliwa is set to miss out on a chance of facing the prison warders this season as he is still nursing an injury. The center back did not play the first leg in Luzira and Wednesday’s match comes quite early for him.
