UPL: Janjali Late Show Sinks Proline’s Survival’s Hopes

Bright Stars 1-0 Proline
Joseph Janjali scored a late goal as Bright Stars egded Proline 1-0 on matchday 23 of the Uganda Premier League at Kavumba.
Alfred Onek’s well-delivered cross found the Masaza Cup product unmarked and his 82nd minute header left goalkeeper Hassan Matovu helpless.
Bright Stars were meant to have more than two goals but missed some scoring chances on many occasions.
Captain Sulaiman Sebbunza failed to convert a penalty for the hosts in the first half following a foul on Janjali in the box, thanks to Matovu’s heroics.
Matovu also denied threatening attempts from James Angu, Muwada Mawejje and Ronald Nkooge.
Proline’s only chance came after 84 minutes when Ibrahim Wamannah forced a finger tip save from goalkeeper Edwin Kiwanuka.
The win for Bright Stars was their 4th at home in the second round, rising to 29 points in the 9th position.
Coach Paul Kiwanuka’s side will play away to third placed Sports Club Villa in their next league match.
Proline that remains bottom-lined on 18 points will face off with Tooro United on Tuesday next week.
