UFL: IUEA Records Second Successive Win

Busitema 2-3 IUEA

Elimu Daniel scored a first half brace as International University of East Africa (IUEA) edged past Busitema 2-3 in the University Football League on Friday.

The game played at a waterlogged Busitema grounds produced IUEA’s second victory in the history of the championship after a 2-1 win against Kampala University.

Otim Geoffrey fired Busitema in the lead after 13 minutes off a Sani set up but IUEA levelled through Elimu who scored from a close range free kick two minutes after.

Elimu completed his brace in the 24th minute as he met a cross from Abraham Sudier to fire the visitors in to the lead.

In the 65th minute, Sudier further stretched IUEA’s lead when he capitalised on Busitema’s poor clearance in the defense, as the hosts rallied with two goals.

Ten minutes later, Sanya Vincent gave hope to Busitema when he scored their second goal and cut their deficit to one. IUEA held on for the victory.

After the hard fought win, IUEA remain top of group C with six points while Busitema sits second with only three points.

Kampala University and Uganda Marty’s University are in the third and fourth respectively.

The University Football League resumes today with a group A clash between Kyambogo university and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) at Kyambogo.
