Suspected Fraudulent Labor Exporter Freed on Bail
Buganda road grade one Magistrate Stella Amabirisi has released on bail Gonhill Nakaweesa, who is accused of defrauding over 300 million shillings from various people after promising them employment in Dubai.
Nakaweesa was freed on a Shs 25 million non cash bail, after presenting to court sureties that were found to be substantial.
Each of her sureties was ordered to sign a non cash bond of 60 million shillings.
“Being that the case involves huge sums of money, the applicant is ordered to deposit in court a land title under her names as well as her original National Identity card and those of all her sureties,” the magistrate ordered.
The matter has been adjourned to 20th March 2020 for hearing.
Nakaweesa is facing 24 counts of obtaining money by false pretence.
It is alleged that between November and December 2019, while at her office located on Namaganda Plaza in Kampala Central Division Kampala district, Nakaweesa fleeced about 300 million shillings from various people promising to get them jobs in Dubai which she didn’t.
