Teargas as Police Blocks Bobi Wine’s Inaugural Consultations
Tensions soured Monday morning in Gayaza and the surrounding areas after police blocked Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine planned consultative meeting.
Bobi Wine, a presidential hopeful was scheduled to start his public consultations as mandated by the constitution, before contesting for the office.
He was expected to start from his constituency Kyadondo and his first interface with the public was to be at Our Lady of Africa Play grounds in Gayaza.
However early morning, Police cordoned off the location and ordered the organizers to vacate the place immediately.
Some people who resisted to vacate were arrested and whisked away to Kasangati police station. In the chaos that ensued, police fired teargas to disperse the angry organizers and supporters.
Meanwhile, Police has also mounted numerous road blocks along Gayaza-Kasangatti road and carrying out security snap check checks.
Reports indicate that Bobi Wine has left his residence in Magere heading to planned venue.
