Kiwanda Launches East Africa Cultural Crafts Marketing Project

 

The Minister of State for Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities Hon Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi has launched a marketing project for East African Cultural Crafts.

The new project, the minister says, is a great opportunity for Ugandans to show case their crafts that tell a story to the whole world.

“Ugandan Crafts tell our country’s story and more so our culture. We can use them to promote our country’s tourism worldwide as long as they are of good quality” he said.

He also urged the crafts makers to embrace the digital era to cell their products and also to make sure they brand them with made from Uganda.

Richard Kawele the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Association said that the aims of the new project with the National Arts and Culture Crafts Association of Uganda the umbrella body for private tourism associations in Uganda is to developing a digital marketing platform for the East African Community Culture Crafts, developing and make sure that they improve quality standards of the cultural crafts in Uganda.

“It’s also looking at strengthening the skills capacity of women and youth produces of cultural crafts and creating opportunities for unemployed university graduates” he added.
