Retired UPDF Soldier Murdered, Buried at Night

Five people have been arrested in Rukungiri in connection to the death of retired Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF).

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson identifies the deceased as Rtd Cpl. Nabimanya Ambrose, 46, a   resident of Kashegu cell in Nyakagyeme sub county, Rukungiri District.

Maate says the deceased went missing on July 14th    2020 and on 17th, his body was found in his house by his uncle one Kashaija Victor alias Vito, who reported to the area Chairperson LC.1 chairman, one Nshekanabo Cypriano.

Upon being checked, the body was found to be missing the private parts, one eye and the tongue, all of which pointed to a murder.

The family members however, led by Kyomukama Anna, Kashaija Victor and Nyesiga Sezi insisted on a quick burial, and the body was buried at about 08:30 pm on the same day it was found, before post mortem examination.

The following day, one of the residents informed the police about the incident, and officers responded by arresting five suspects including those who insisted on the quick burial and the area chairperson.

Maate says police investigating the death of the soldier in the cases registered at Rukungiri Police Station as CRB 1333/2020.
