2019 Top Music Shows

 

Uganda has an all year schedule for events and more particularly in the entertainment industry.

As we usher in the 2020 stretch, we bring you a unique glimpse into some of the most memorable, entertaining and outstanding music shows of 2019 that sold out and those that were hosted in prestigious venues.

Awilo Live in Kampala

Congolese Soukous legendary singer Awilo Longomba was in Uganda for his performances in both Kampala and Arua.

The Soukous master had thousands attending both shows, where the Serena rather Kampala show saw revelers ending up not having seats and had to stand right from the time the show started to the end.

At around 8 PM, all wrist bands and tickets were done yet lines stretched from all the Serena gates; opposite OPM and that of Crested Towers.

Nyege Nyege Festival

There have been several episodes of Nyege Nyege festival, but this 5th edition made history as the biggest attended event not only in Uganda, but the whole of Africa.

The event attracted millions of partiers from across the world who came to have good time while sharing their cultures and values.

This year’s Nyege Nyege was very different from the previous episodes not only due to the fact that it received huge numbers, but was well organized too.

Jidenna Blankets and Wine

This was the 24th edition of ‘Tusker Malt Blankets and Wine,’ that featured American singer Jidenna.

The event, this time round was held at the Indian Association grounds and not their usual ‘home’ Cricket Oval Lugogo.

Despite the shift of venues, the show still stood out as one of the most attended events.

The Music event saw thousands of revelers throng the venue amidst the heavy downpour. Revelers braced the mud that was all over the venue to see Jidenna perform alongside other Ugandan singers including Evon and Allan Toniks among others.

Bell All-Star Tour Concert

Bell All-Star Tour Concert was such a huge party on the Ugandan music calendars. The show, which featured two international reggae singers Christopher Martin and D Major, surpassed all the previous episodes.

Pulse Jam Fest

The Pulse Jam Festival featuring Jamaican reggae singer Chronixx, is yet another show to be talked about.

Chronixx gave fans the best of his performance like never before while he kept on saying he had never seen such an amazing audience as Ugandans who turned up for the show that time.

Isaiah Katumwa

Angelique Kidjo performing

Isaiah Katumwa featuring American singer Darren Rahn and Beninese Angelique Kidjo is another show not to be left out.

The show, being one of the highest paid for events as soul-Jazz lovers were charged Shs 200,000 ordinary and Shs 4m for a table, attracted huge numbers that filled Serena to the bream.

Kampala Praise Festival

The Kampala Praise Festival 2019 edition featured famous Gospel music singer Don Moen who had his first concert here in 2014.

His performance at Kololo Airstrip, gave fans a full dose of his praise and worship music including ‘I will Sing’, ‘Thank you Lord’ and ‘Here we Are’ among others.

The show saw multitudes turn up as they gathered to praise and worship the Almighty all night long.
