Minister Anite Appointed Uganda- UK Business Forum Patron

The Minister of State for Finance in charge of Privatization and Investments, Evelyn Anite has been appointed the Patron of the Uganda- UK Business Forum.

This was on Friday when Minister Anite met the United Kingdom Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Uganda and Rwanda, Lord Dolar Popat at the Ministry of Finance.

The Minister in a statement said her engagement with Lord Popat tackled investment opportunities, progress of Industrial Park projects among others.

“I have just had a wonderful engagement with the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Uganda and Rwanda Lord Dolar Popat who paid me a visit to discuss the progress of the Industrial Park projects, investment opportunities in Uganda and ways to increase trade between both countries,” said Anite.

She revealed that the meeting ended with the guest appointing her the Uganda- UK Business Forum Patron, after witnessing her abilities during the short engagement.

“I am also very pleased to have been appointed Patron for the Uganda – UK Business Forum by Lord Dolar Popat,” said Anite.

President Museveni during the first cabinet sitting in 2016, tasked Anite with the crucial task of overseeing the designing and development parks across the country to boost manufacturing, import substitution, add value to export produce, create jobs among others.

Anite said the new appointment is going to enhance economic ties between the two countries.

“As patron I will spearhead the promotion of economic ties between Uganda and UK with a focus on the promotion of investment and business between the two countries,” said Anite.

The government is among other initiatives aggressively focusing on making Uganda a more business friendly country, attracting Foreign Direct Investment, increasing taxable income, creating jobs, and positioning Uganda companies to take up export opportunities.

Uganda has numerous opportunities for trade and investment in various sectors especially agriculture and agro-processing, infrastructure, mining and minerals, tourism, oil & gas, ICT, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.
