Man Utd’s dismal goal record is their worst after eight Premier League matches for 12 years – even Norwich have scored more this season

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has scored fewer Premier League goals than any Manchester United team in 12 years.

The return of just nine strikes in eight games is another unwanted stat for the Norwegian, who already boasts the worst win ratio (48 per cent) of any Red Devils boss since Dave Sexton in the late Seventies.

And the club are on their worst run without an away victory since 1989 after failing to taste victory in the eight games since they beat PSG in March.

Only seven teams have scored fewer than United’s measly nine goals in the top-flight so far.

Such is the worry about their attacking impetus, former England boss Sam Allardyce believes they could be relegated if they don’t sort out their striker crisis.

At this stage last season under Jose Mourinho, United had already found the back of the net a whopping 21 times.

And they were four points and four places better off than 12th-placed United are at the moment.

Solskjaer’s side haven’t netted more than once in a game since the 4-0 win against Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season.

United have lost two Premier League games in a row, and Old Trafford chiefs are said to be ready to swing the axe if Solskjaer loses to Norwich on October 27.

But despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the ex-Cardiff boss gave the thumbs up as he pulled into Carrington this morning.
