NBS’ Joyce Bagala to Stand on NUP Ticket to Challenge Nabakooba in Mityana MP Race

Popular NBS TV news manager, Joyce Bagala, is set to stand for the Mityana District Woman Member of Parliament.

Bagala said in a statement on Friday morning that she would be standing on the National Unity Platform (NUP)/People Power Movement ticket.

The area is being represented by Information Minister Judith Nabakooba.

Some parts of Mityana remain a stronghold of opposition NUP courtesy of MP Francis Zaake and Bobi Wine.

Bagala contested for the Mityana Woman MP seat in the 2016 elections, losing to Nabakooba.

Below is Bagala’s statement in full:

On 1st October 2020, I took a bold step to resign from my job at NBS TV and offer myself to contest for the Mityana District Woman Member of Parliament.

Whereas I found complete satisfaction in my professional career over the years, I inevitably had to respond to a different but passionate call of service – to genuinely serve the people of Mityana district in Uganda’s 11th Parliament.

I extend exceptional gratitude to the leadership and colleagues at Next Media Services for the immeasurable support offered to me, thus far.

Colleagues, friends, brothers and sisters, I count on you for support and understanding as I embark on this new and equally exciting political journey.

Victory is on our side!
