MP Simeo Nsubuga Faces Threatening Violence, Offensive Communication Charges

Kasanda South Member of Parliament Hon. Simeo Nsubuga is likely to face two charges of threatening violence and offensive communication under the computer misuse Act, Police has said.

The MP is under investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations which was ordered by Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola following an audio clip which leaked to social media in which he was heard threatening to kill a man called Sonko Abdallahtif.

Nsubuga threatened to kill Sonko for allegedly trying to lure his supporters to his opponent whom he lost to in the just concluded NRM primaries.

“I am getting reports from the constituency that you are calling my supporters and coordinators that Muhumuza wants them. I’m just asking you, my brother, you still have a young family and children. If you want life, I’m telling you myself, I’m not sending anyone, if you still want life and look after your children, leave the person called Simeo Nsubuga. Don’t say I didn’t tell you. This is a matter of life and death. I have warned you in broad daylight,” Nsubuga was heard telling Sonko in the audio clip.

In an update from investigations, CID spokesperson ASP Charles Twine Mansio said that a case was reported by the victim (Sonko) who also recorded a statement.

“The purported accused person Simeo Nsubuga was called by our investigators and he also came and recorded a statement and the file is in advanced stages,” he said.

“If sanctioned, he will be charged with two counts threatening violence and offensive communication,” Twine said.

Twine condemned the act done by the legislator and also cautioned people especially with high stature to desist from misusing their mobile phones since they are also classified as computer gadgets and if mishandled, they can lead to criminality.
