Kampala Capital City Authority has announced that one staff at their headquarters at City Hall has tested positive of Coronavirus.

In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon, KCCA said the staff tested positive during a risk-based testing exercise for Covid-19 carried out in order to establish the status at City Hall on August 26, 2020.

“The testing exercise was conducted by the Ministry of Health at the KCCA Headquarters. The results that were returned on September 1, 2020 reported one positive case at our Headquarters—City Hall,” KCCA said.

“Our staff has been counseled and safely evacuated to the designated medical centre for appropriate care while the KCCA COVID-19 surveillance team conducts tracing of all the possible contacts.”

KCCA however urged members of the public to observe the safety guidelines as provided by the Ministry of Health so as to avoid the spread of the virus.

On Wednesday, Uganda registered 75 new Coronavirus cases, 30 from Kampala 10 of whom are health workers, 23 from Buikwe and six from Kikuube.

Uganda’s confirmed Coronavirus cases are 3112 from 385,882 samples tested since March.

Of these, 1528 have fully recovered and discharged from various hospitals around the country whereas Uganda has registered 32 deaths due to Coronavirus.
