NUP Denies Side-lining Chameleone on Basis of Religion

The National Unity Platform party (NUP) has rubbished allegations that it denied popular City Legendary musician, Joseph Mayanja alias Dr. Jose Chameleon its ticket on the basis of religion.

Chameleone, who intended to challenge the incumbent Erias Lukwago on the position of Kampala lord mayor lost the NUP ticket to lawyer Lattif Ssebagala.

Ssebagala, the current Member of Parliament of Kawempe North will now be challenging FDC’s Lukwago on the NUP ticket.

Shortly afterwards, a purported assessment form showed up on social media indicating among others that Chameleone was disadvantaged in the race because he was a catholic.

Responding on the viral assessment form, Joel Senyonyi, the NUP spokesperson dismissed it as fake and added that the political cause of some people should not be used to malice NUP and its members.

The said fake assessment form that went viral yesterday

“The document is fake and please treat it with the contempt of deserves. I have attached the correct template that was used in assessing all NUP aspirants,” he said adding.

According to the fake assessment form, Chameleon was beaten on grounds that had the “little voter confidence”

Also being a Catholic, the results on the form indicated that the “Denomination is not very appealing to the majority of voters”

This comes after Chameleon announced that he will stand on an independent ticket in the race,

“This is our time the youth; we shall not be denied our rights by these old people, and I want to tell my brother Bobi Wine that the people he is dealing with will kill his party in its infancy,” Chameleon told journalists in Kampala.

Sadat Mukiibi alias Kalifa Aganaga who was also denied the Lubaga South MP NUP ticket also vowed to support Chameleon in his Mayoral race.
