Kadaga Mourns Pallisa Woman MP

Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has mourned the passing of Pallisa Woman Member of Parliament, Faith Alupo which occurred on Tuesday.

Alupo was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning from Mulago National Referral Hospital where she had been hospitalized for over a weak. The family of the deceased and health officials have since confirmed that she was suffering from COVID-19 and the husband is still admitted.

“It’s with sadness that I have learnt of the death of Faith Alupo, Woman Representative, Pallisa District,” said Kadaga.

Honourable Alupo, a member of the National Resistance Movement party, joined Parliament in 2018 after being declared unopposed in a by election. Pallisa woman MP seat fell vacant in September 2017 after the former representative, Agnes Ameede, shifted to the then newly-created Butebu district.

Kadaga praised the late as a committed legislator who was dedicated to her duties of legislation, appropriation and oversight.

“She was a legislator committed to her work and was a member of the Committee on Tourism, Trade and Industry,” said Kadaga.

The Speaker sent condolence messages to the family and the constituency. Parliament is customarily going to facilitate the burial arrangements.

“I convey my condolences to her family, the constituency, relatives and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.
