Higher Education Council Approves More Programmes for Gulu University

National Council for Higher Education has approved 18 additional programmes in both science and arts disciplines for Gulu University.

Gulu University, which is one of the Government universities established in 2002, previously had 38 programmes and the addition is going to boost it to 56.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer, Ojok James Onono said all the new programmes are tailored towards transforming the community around the university and also to engage the wider national population and beyond online.

“Gulu University is now in the race to take up the mantle of becoming the best community engagement University in the region and the world. The good news of 18 new programmes is coming at the time we have just launched the University Community Engagement Policy,” said Onono.

The new programmes are expected to be advertised and operationalized when Government opens schools formally for all classes.

The new undergraduate programmes include; Bachelor of science in Environmental Science and Natural Resources management, Bachelor of Applied science (Physical), Bachelor of Applied Science (Biological) and Bachelor of Sports, Exercise and Health Science.

The arts discipline programmes include Bachelor of International Relations and Security Studies, Bachelor of Secretarial and Administrative Studies, Bachelor of Development Economics, Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

Postgraduate programmes include; Masters of Arts in History, Masters of Arts in Geography, Masters of Education Curriculum Studies, Masters of Monitoring and Evaluations, Masters of Development Studies and Foundation of Education. One PHD programme in Peace and Security Studies has also been added.

The National Council of Higher Education also approved Postgraduate Diplomas in Community Development, Public Administrations, Human Resource Management, Monitoring and Evaluations.
