Former MP Loses in Elderly Polls in Kisoro

Philip Ntacyotugira, the former Bufumbira North MP in Kisoro district has lost in the NRM primaries for Kisoro district special interest groups.

Ntacyotugira represented Bufumbira North IN parliament from 1996 to 2006 when he lost to Silver Bahane.

Untill March 2020 he was the Kisoro district service commission chairperson a post he has held for two terms.

In the Sunday NRM primaries he stood for the Kisoro male elderly district councillor seat but he lost to Epaphrah Byaraiyehe who is the incumbent, 17 to 18 votes.

In the polls, Rose Manirakiza the Kisoro district LCV vice chairperson was elected as the woman councillor for the elderly unopposed.

For the persons with disabilities, Eunice Baganda won the female seat unopposed while Baker Yigaba took the male seat.

The election exercise that were held at the Kisoro district yard was presided over by the Kisoro district NRM election officer Tadeo Majyambere who described it as peaceful.

“All the polls have been peaceful we haven’t registered any serious acts of violence. We are now at 98 percent with just the elections of the district youth chairperson that will be on October 2nd 2020”. Said Majyambere.
