Coach Ssimwogerere Blames Club CEO for his Dismissal at Express
Former Express Football Club head coach George Ssimwogerere has come out to defend his managerial credentials despite his recent slump at Express.
Ssimwogerere on Sunday while appearing on a local Radio station, Voice of Africa maintained that his previous experiences at several clubs, both locally and across boarders, have catapulted him to becoming one of the best coaches in the country.
The outspoken job-less tactician noted that despite having a failed career at the six-time Uganda Premier League winners Express, he had achieved success at all other locally based clubs and in Tanzania.
He claimed that the CEO closely collaborated with the team doctor and a small group of people who tirelessly worked to achieve their own benefits hence failing him at Wankulukuku.
“I can authoritatively say that I’m one of the most successful coaches Uganda has ever had,” Ssimwogerere stressed before adding,
“My ruined stint at Express cannot determine the entire fate of my coaching career because if it wasn’t the CEO and the team doctor, the future would have been bright.
“Despite failing at Express, I was successful with my coaching journey at other local clubs including Masaka Lical Council, Kagera Sugar, Simba SC and others.”
Ssimwogerere previously managed Military Police, Masaka Local Council, Bugiri FC, plus Tanzanian outfits Kagera Sugar and Simba Sports Club.
He was appointed as Express Coach in February 5, 2019 replacing Kefa Kisala, and the former club captain managed 33 games, winning just 11, Seven draws and lost 15 before his sacking in February this year.
