Bobi Wine: “I will defeat Museveni hands down”

Presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has said that he will defeat President Museveni by a knock out in next year’s general election.

“We intend to win the elections by knock out. That is why we are encouraging every Ugandan to come out and vote,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi made these remarks while addressing a number of Ugandans in the diaspora about what the National Unity Platform (NUP), a party he presides over, is doing to win the President Museveni in the coming election.

He said the votes he will get in the general election will be too many for incumbent to mess up with.

Kyagulanyi said: “We know that if we do what we are intending to do, this time the vote will be too huge for (President) Museveni and his machinations to mess with and that is a guarantee we give all Ugandans because we are all going to be involved.”

The Kyadondo East legislator said that their plan to overwhelm President Museveni was rolled out in three phases.

” Our first step was to sensitise our people to make them aware of their power and that their vote counts, now we are in campaigns and three, on the day of elections, we encourage people to come out in numbers and vote,” Kyagulanyi said.

On how he plans to overwhelm President Museveni, Kyagulanyi said that his plan is to make sure that Ugandans themselves get involved and guard their votes on every poling station to rule out any irregularities.

“The same way we did it in Kyadondo, Jinja, Bugiri, Arua and it worked, Ugandans will come out, vote and not leave the poling stations because it does not break any law. Our foot soldiers are teaching people that voting alone doesn’t count,”Kyagulanyi said.

He added that, “After counting, there won’t be any magic that will be applied. We will know what every candidate has got at every polling station. There have been fears that the Electoral Commission will announce a different result from the votes but I disagree with that.”

Kyagulanyi added that in case the Electoral Commission announces different results, Ugandans have been sensitised to resist.

Kyagulanyi said that the Electoral Commission led by Justice Simon Byabakama is being dishonest in its operations even before the 2021 general elections.

Citing his academic documents as an example, Kyagulanyi said that when EC was approached by lawyer Male Mabirizi for his (Kyagulanyi) academic papers, it took the electoral body a few days to respond yet they have failed to avail President Museveni’s documents, almost two weeks since another lawyer, Muwada Nkunyingi asked for them.

“These double standards expose the Electoral Commission as blatant liars. They followed the law when it came to me but have failed to respect the law when it comes to President Museveni.
