Bank of Uganda Donates Shs. 200M to Rubanda Health Centre

Bank of Uganda (BOU) has   donated ugx 200 million shillings to help with procuring medical equipment and expansion of the Maternity Ward at Hamurwa Health Centre IV in Rubanda District.

The donation was made last Saturday when officials from the Central Bank visited the facility.

Speaking at the event, Dr Abdon Birungi the Rubanda District Health Officer (DHO) revealed that Hamurwa Health Centre IV is the only referral point for all the 13 Health centres in Rubana East, while the other bigger facility is Muko Health Centre IV in Rubanda West Constituency which is some distance.

While hundreds of women deliver at the facility every month, Dr Birungi said the Maternity Ward is too small to accommodate more than 30 expectant mothers.

He added that the facility lacks an Ultra Sound Scan and a Blood Bank refrigerator.

Dr. Abdon says he decided to coordinate with the arear leaders to write to the Bank of Uganda seeking assistance.

The Board Secretary for Bank of Uganda Susan Kanyemibwa who represented the Governor Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire said the Ugx 200 million Shillings donation was part of their social cooperate responsibility extended to all districts with Bank of Uganda Branches, in celebration of 50 years of service.
