Kabale NGO Boss, Wife Laid to Rest

It was sombre mood in Ruhinda, in Rujumbura county Rukungiri district on Sunday at the burial of Hillary Namanya, the programs director of local NGO Rukundo International, and his wife Barbra Natukunda who has been the academic registrar of African International Christian Ministry Vocational School (AICM).

The couple perished in a road accident along the Kabale – Kisoro road on Friday.

They were heading to Kisoro accompanying their friend Racheal Guhirwa to her wedding.

Their vehicle, a Toyota Mark II slid off the road at Kagano and rolled downhill, killing the two.

The bride sustained serious injuries and is admitted at Mbarara Regional referral hospital.

One of the mourners Medard Kiconco Bamwoya while speaking at the funeral said their death was so tragic.

He praised the late Namanya for his generous efforts to help people and his wife Natukunda as a great choir leader at All Saints Church in Kabale municipality.

The burial was attended among others by the Kabale LC5 chairman Patrick Besigye Keihwa, and Rujumbura county MP Fred Tuhirirwe.

The MP thanked the mourners for wearing masks even though they exceeded the numbers recommended by President Yoweri Museveni amid the Covid19 pandemic.

The couple left behind two boys aged 7 and 4 years.
