COVID-19: Tanzania Reopens Borders and Skies to Tourists; No Quarantine Required

Tanzania has become the first East African Country to open its boarders to tourists from all over the world without any conditions, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

President John Magufuli says COVID-19 infections in the country have gone down tremendously and his country is ready to welcome all tourists.

“I have directed the Ministry of Tourism to attract airline companies to fly their tourist and passenger scheduled planes to Tanzania with immediate effect”, Magufuli said.

The Magufuli added that no foreign visitors will be subjected to 14-day quarantine when landing in Tanzania.

“All travelers whether foreigners or returning residents entering or leaving the United Republic of Tanzania will be subjected to enhanced screening for COVID-19 infections. There will be no 14 days mandatory quarantine upon arrival.

The international travelers were only asked to observe adherence to infection prevention and control measures such as hand hygiene, wearing masks and keeping physical distancing as appropriate.

“All travelers are required to truthfully fill out traveler’s surveillance form available on board or in any other transport means and submit it to Port Health Authorities upon arrival”.

Tanzania has been accused of concealing the truth about its Covid19 cases, which recently prompted the US embassy to issue a strong advisory to its citizens.
