Kisoro: Truck Driver on the Run after Killing Woman

Police in Kisoro District are hunting for Fuso Truck driver who knocked dead a woman on Rubanda-Kabale Road and fled.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has only identified the driver of Fuso Truck registration number UBD 725T as Katafari

The truck was loaded with Irish potatoes

The deceased was identified as Nyiraguhirwa Beatrice a resident of Rwankoni village in Chahi Sub County.

Maate said that the incident took place at a revenue collection point at Bihanga, and that Katafari managed to drive his vehicle for a distance of 2.5 KM away from the scene where he abandoned it and fled.

“We have towed away the vehicle to Kisoro Police Station as we continue to hunt for the driver who ran away” Maate said.

Maate said that a case of fatal accident was registered at Kisoro District Police Station under Reference Number TAR 07/15/04/2020 as Police hunt for the runaway driver. The body of Nyiraguhirwa has been handed over to the relatives for burial.
