Women’s Football: U-17 Team Receives Winning Bonuses
FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo Hashim has fulfilled his promise to the U17 Girls team by clearing the Three hundred dollars winning bonuses deposited to each of the player’s account..
Magogo had pledged to wire $300 the transfer as a token of appreciation provided Uganda ejects Tanzania in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second last qualification round, a bet that was fulfilled on the 14th of this month at Lugogo.
The CAF Executive Committee member made his promise during his courtesy visit to the team’s residential camp at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru before the return leg.
“I want to promise you that I will give each player Two hundred dollars provided you progress to the final qualification round and eliminate Tanzania,” Magogo promised.
Before Uganda could finally get business done with an obliterating 5-0 win in front of a packed StarTimes Stadium and progressing to the final qualification round, Tanzania had a 2-1 first leg advantage.
ChimpReports confirmed the wire transfer from a player, who preferred to remain anonymous.
Grace Aluka, Fauziah Najjemba, Margaret Kunihira all scored one goal apiece before lanky forward and captain Juliet Nalukenge recorded a brace as Uganda advanced 6-2 on aggregate.
Uganda next plays Cameroon, a side that saw off Sao Tome 10-0 on aggregate to reach the final qualification round where the winner will progress to the final tournament scheduled for November in India this year.
ChimpReports has also learnt that Magogo appreciated the winning team for the inaugural 2019 CECAFA U17 Women’s tournament that was hosted in Jinja.
A reliable source confirmed that each player on the winning team received USD 200 (UGX 700,000) token for winning inaugural tournament held at Njeru Technical Centre in December.
The hosts beat Kenya 2-0 in the deciding match to clinch the title in the inaugural six-nation edition in Jinja.
Goals from Nalukenge and Najjemba (MVP) guided Uganda to their triumph.
In the same line, a sum of One Million Ugandan shillings (Shs.1,000,000) token was given to each player who appeared on Uganda’s 20-man squad that featured in the 2019 CECAFA Women Senior Challenge Cup held in Tanzania.
Uganda finished 3rd overall after defeating Burundi 2-0 at Chamazi Sports Complex in Dar es Salaam thanks to Shamira Nalugya and Amina Nababi strikes.
Kenya emerged winners of the championship, after overcoming hosts Tanzania 2-0 in the final.
