M.O.H Shifts Covid19 Updates to UBC

Ministry of Health has announced it will be updating the public about the corona irus pandemic from the national broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC).

This was revealed by the ministry’s permanent secretary Dr Diana Atwiine on Thursday.

“The Ministry of Health would like to inform all media houses that following the Covid19 outbreak in Uganda, all media briefings will be held at UBC studios Kampala,” reads part of Dr Atwine’s statement.

The updates have always been issued at the health ministry headquarters in Kampala.

According to the permanent secretary, “media briefings garner a high number of people in a boardroom at any time. In order to prevent overcrowding to avert the possible spread of covid19, the M.O.H advises media houses to pick signals and feeds at UBC henceforth.”

She said that the health sector public relations unit and the National broadcaster are working out a feedback mechanism via Zoom that will allow journalists to ask questions.

Meanwhile the ministry appeals to the general public to call 0800 203 003 or 0800 303 033 to report any suspected cases of corona virus.
