Sekulima Late Strike Piles More Misery On Maroons, Bamweyana

 Star Times Uganda Premier League

Maroons 0-1 Busoga United

A late show by super sub Sekulima Paul saw Busoga United edge Maroons in the Uganda Premier League game played on Friday at Luzira.

Sekulima strike came in the three minutes of the added time that came after Busoga’s’ Ismail Muguluusi beat Maroons’ goalie Akol Emmanuel and set unmarked Sekulima for the danger man to tap in an empty net.

Akol had earlier pulled out two reflex saves to parry away David Bagoole’s attempt, and later denied old boy Ivan Wani’s keeper to beat attempt.

This was Maroons’ third consecutive league defeat which mounts more pressure on their gaffer Douglas Bamweyana who is borrowed time.

Prior to this match, the former SC Villa tactician was given three matches to save his job but has unfortunately failed the first test.

Midfield Picasso Bagoole put up a man of the match performance to walk away with One hundred thousand shillings and a plaque.

Maroons’ defeat put them one place above the relegation zone, counting 24 points after 23 games with more seven to call it a season.

While Busoga United’s slim victory on the road put them on 36 points consolidating the 5th position on the table.

Maroons will pay a visit to wounded Vipers on Wednesday next week at Kitende while Busoga United will return to the Mighty Arena against Wakiso Giants a day before.
