Police Declares Nansana a Top Criminal Den

Police has named Nansana Municipality in Wakiso district as a leading crime hub.

According to Police, most of the criminals terrorizing Kampala and its suburbs today, have their bases in Nansana town.

This was revealed yesterday by police spokesperson Fred Enanga following separate operations in which a notorious group of car robbers was arrested.

“Nansana has the highest criminal cases in Kampala Metropolitan policing area. Most of the car thieves and robbers are based in Nansana,” he said during a security briefing

Nansana municipality since 2017 has been grappling with crime, mostly robberies and other violent crimes.

In the recent operations, Police said, a total of 7 suspects who were actively involved in stealing cars were arrested.

Enanga told the press that the group normally targets specific car models such as Premios, Harriers, Ipsums which they steal and dismantle into spare parts in areas of Buyaga along Mityana road.

The suspects were arrested in a crackdown to recover a stolen Toyota Premio number UBD 031K that had been robbed from Kira division.

“We managed to arrest them while they were in a car they had driven to Buyala at a home of Lameck Mwanje,” Enanga revealed

Lameck, a 44-year-old is a witch doctor and a resident of Buyala where the suspects used to dismantle the stolen vehicles.

The suspect currently held at Kira police are identified as Samuel Seremba, Sharif Lukwago, Brefen Kalyango, Najib Mwanje, Lydia Nakiyinji and Ronald Kibalama.

In a related incident, Police also arrested 3 suspects in Gomba who were on a robbery mission.

At the time of arrest, they were driving in a Toyota harrier number UAK 992P which had an assortment of breaking implements.

The 3 have been identified as Tanansi Mukasa, a resident of Mukono, Kasamba Swaibu from Masaka and Aron Mwesigwa an electrician from energy centre in Kampala.
