Kirabo, Ambala Clinch Best 2019 Swimmers Accolades

Kirabo Namutebi and Atuhaire Ambala clinched the accolades for the best female and male swimmers of 2019 respectively.

Both were recognized at  the annual Uganda Swimming Federation Excellence awards that took place on Saturday evening at Gems Cambridge International School, Butabika.

In attendance  was the State Minister for Sports Hamsson Obua, National Council of Sports General secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel, Assistant General secretary David Katende, Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick.

Other VIP guests who honored invitations were presidents of different sports federations like  Moses Muhangi (UBF), Eng. Mwaka Emmanuel (Chess), Hadija Namanda (Volleyball), Jjagwe Robert (Table Tennis), Muwonge Mahabba (Cycling), Basketball’s Nasser Serunjogi among others

Kirabo’s victory came as a result of having an impressive 2019 where she won two gold medals (50m freestyle and breaststroke) at the Africa Juniors.

She beat competition from Advice Meya and Selina Katumba.

Also, Ambala who trains in Thailand and failed to appear on the event won the best Male swimmer of last year beating competition from Adnan Kabuye and Tendo Mukalazi.

Also, para swimmer Husna Kukundakwe was the most inspirational swimmer of the year while Muwanguzi Muzafar and Cari Karugire won best male and female coaches respectively.
