Molly Kamukama Eyes Kazo MP Seat
Newly appointed State Minister for Economic Monitoring Ms Molly Kamukama has eyes on parliament.
Kamukama announced last Sunday that she will be seeking election as the woman MP for the newly created district of Kazo in western Uganda.
Kazo was one of the five districts that commenced operations in July last year.
Kamukama says her parliamentary bid was “blessed” by the Mbarara Catholic Bishop, Paul K. Bakyenga.
In a brief announcement on social media, she outlined some of the areas that she will be focusing on if elected to represent the struggling young district.
“My primary focus will be supporting the Kazo community to boost their household incomes,” she said.
“There is also urgent need for strict supervision of the implementation of government programs in the area which I will dedicate my energies to.”
Mrs Kamukama, who left State House this month to join cabinet, will be hoping to ride on her deep roots in the ruling NRM party to take the Kazo seat.
Before she was appointed President Museveni Principal Private Secretary, she worked as an NRM mobilizer leading up to the 2016 general elections.
