FUFA Awards: Okello Dedicates Award to Late Mother, Coaches

After being named as the best male player of the year at the Airtel FUFA awards held at the lakeside Speke Resort in Munyonyo, Allan Okello appreciated his late mother as well his father’s efforts.

The youngster dedicated his award to his late mum and also appreciated his father for taking care of him in his mother’s absence.

“I want to dedicate this award to my late mother, but then appreciate my father for not giving up on me and raising us up. Thank you,” Okello said moments after scooping the accolade.

The KCCA FC magician described winning the award as an honor and expressed happiness with the accolade.

“Am feeling so excited today, it’s a great honor for me to finally win this award. I was on the podium last year and came second, but it’s great that I win it this year,” he added.

He however thanked his coaches in Mike Mutebi and Abdallah Mubiru for giving him a platform and always believe in his abilities.

“I want to thank my coach Mike Mutebi for giving me the opportunity and always pushing me to perform at my best, I also want to thank Coach Abdallah Mubiru for spotting my talent at Kibuli.”

“It has been a good fight against some of the top talents my brother Mustafa Kizza and Bright Anukani, I want to congratulate you as well. It’s a great honor to be playing with you (Kizza) and I hope for better in the future,” he noted.

Okello who was runner up to Moses Waswa in 2018, beat KCCA teammate, defender Mustafa Kizza and Proline FC playmaker Bright Anukani to the award. He walked away with Shs 1,000 000 and a new Subaru forester.

It should be noted that Okello was also voted as the inaugural winner of the 256 Footballer of the Year Award last month after beating competition from Denis Onyango, Juma Balinya, Timothy Awany and Patrick Henry Kaddu
