COPA 2019: Cranes To Face Hosts Tanzania In The Opener

The Uganda Beach Soccer team is all set for their first encounter against the hosts of Tanzania in the 3rd edition of the Annual Copa Dar es Salam Beach Soccer Tournament at Coco Beach located along the shores of the Indian Ocean in Tanzania

The team which arrived in Dar es Salam on Friday evening aboard Kenya Airways is accommodated at Rungwe Palace Hotel, Kariako in the heart of the City.

On Saturday evening the team under the stewardship of Salim Jamal Muwonge assisted by Bashir Mutyaba conducted a training session in preparation for the first match against the hosts Tanzania on Sunday evening.

Muwonge is confident that the players will put up the best display due to the facilitation from the Federation and better preparations.

“We have had the best preparations since we started taking part in the Copa Dar es Salama Beach Soccer Tournament,” Muwonge said before adding.

“The team had a two weeks’ camp and we also traveled by plane which wasn’t the case during the first two editions where we had no camp and traveled by bus to Dar es Salam.”

“We are looking forward to the first match against the hosts because it will give us the right tempo for the next games,” he added.

He also added that they are eyeing the trophy this time since the team finished third during the first edition, runners up in the second edition.

The tournament will be played on a round-robin format and the team with the most points amassed emerges winner.
