Isingiro: Leaders divided over road works

Isingiro: Leaders divided over road works

Residents of Kaberebere town council in Isingiro district have decried the wastage of public funds by public servants in the works department.

The complaints stemmed from the ongoing road works where culverts were placed above water channels and others left partly covered.

The poor road network simply adds salt to injury.

The rains make the situation even worse.

From difficulty in the transportation of goods, to poor access of the various services like healthcare and schools.

Located in a valley, the town council has a lot of water pouring in with flooded roads being the order of the day.

Culvert were recently delivered by the ministry of Works to have the problem addressed but to their dismay, these were simply put to waste.

Residents accused the technical team of the town council and the town council engineer Mr. Bayita Richard of working in isolation with intentions to waste public resources.

Some residents said the technical team had ignored advice and ended up messing.

While the district engineer, Bayita, agreed some of the work was going to be a waste of resources, he did not advise on how best it needed to be done.

He accused the political leadership of destabilising works by giving him directives which leads to mistakes.
