Fire Guts Houses in Kisenyi
Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT A fire has gutted several houses in Kiganda zone, Kisenyi destroying property worth millions of shillings.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started from Chot’s lodge at 6 pm and spread to other houses, destroying property such as mattresses, fridges, Television sets among other items. It also destroyed almost all the workshops and cars that were parked nearby.
Fire brigade police could hardly get to the scene due to poor and narrow roads, leaving the affected residents with no choice but to put out the fire in the possible ways they could.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The affected residents blamed the fire brigade for arriving late.
Rita Nakayima, a resident says that the police arrived more than 30 minutes after the fire had started.
Grace Namusisi another resident says that there is rampant illegal power connection in the area which could have caused the fire.
