CHAN 2020: Watambala Gets Maiden Cranes Call Up
After impressing in his first season at Vipers SC, midfielder Abdul Karim Watambala has been included into the Uganda Cranes provisional squad that is preparing for the 2020 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) game against Burundi.
After getting promotion to Vipers senior team from St Mary’s SSS Kitende at the beginning of this season, Watambala found it easy to settle to life at the Kitende based club.
Watambala impressed many when he was named Man of the Match on his senior debut as Vipers defeated Proline FC 1-0 in the Pilsner Super 8 earlier in August after superb performance in the middle of the park.
He went ahead to produce excellent performances in all the games he was given chance which caught the attention from the national team coaches hence including him into Cranes set up.

It is a big milestone for the youngster as he fulfilled the dream of many footballers before even making ten senior appearances for his club.
Uganda Cranes will be locking horns with Burundi in the second qualifying round of 2020 CHAN on Saturday October 19th at Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
Uganda is leading the two-legged with 3-0 on aggregate after winning the first leg game that was played in Burundi.
The winner between the two sides on aggregate will proceed to the final tournament of the competition that will be played in Cameroon earlier next year.
