NRM unveils Museveni’s official campaign portrait for 2021 elections

The ruling  National Resistance Movement (NRM) has unveiled the official campaign portrait for its presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the general elections scheduled for January 2021.

The party Secretary-General, Justine Kasule Lumumba told journalists on Sunday that the portrait will be part of the forthcoming campaigns that will run under the theme, “Securing the Future” which she said is best explained under the ruling party’s four core principles of patriotism, Pan Africanism, socio-economic transformation and democracy.

“As NRM, we would like to unveil to Ugandans the official portrait of our presidential candidate for the 2021 general elections,” Lumumba said.

When asked whether Museveni’s other name ‘Tibuhaburwa’ would be on the portrait of the candidate, Lumumba said they are waiting for the Electoral Commission to uphold the same and it will be adopted on the official campaign portrait.

President Museveni recently swore a declaration to rectify his names and have them written in proper order in accordance with the law on registration of names.

In an October 6, Museveni swore a deed poll in which he explained that he was compelled to put his names in proper order because it had been written interchangeably on several occasions.

He said he was born in 1944 and named Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta but noted his academic documents bear the name Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni.

The NRM Secretary General on Sunday told journalists that Museveni will be nominated on November,2 after the party recently presented a total of five million signatures to the Electoral Commission for verification in accordance with the law.
