URA FC Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) has appointed Henry Mayeku as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mayeku replaces Ivan Kakembo whose contract with the tax men wasn’t renewed upon it’s expiration in November last year.

Following Kakembo’s departure, Bridget Nakayenga has been serving on interim basis since January 2020 but failed to land the job. The short list also had former Express CEO Hamuza Jjunju and Edward Kulubya.

“URA FC is a club everyone would dream to work with. I am so happy to come back and associate with a place I call home,” said the new CEO, Henry Mayeku.

He added, “I promise to bring professionalism, experience and interpersonal skills which I believe will take back URA FC to the top where it is supposed to be.”

Mayeku lands the lucrative deal with a vast experience having previously served a the club between 2012-2016 as the General Secretary.

He will be tasked to help the club attain efficiency and effectiveness in the key pillars of governance, business and sporting in line with FUFA’s club Pro Agenda.

Mayengu shall be the head of secretariat and work under the direction and guidance of the URA FC board to implement plans, strategies and board decisions.

He has signed a one-year contract deal with the Nakawa based side and will be looking forward to seeing the club win the league title come next season.

Last season, URA FC coached by Sam Ssimbwa finished in the 5th position on the table with 49 points by the time the league was prematurely ended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
