Uganda Airlines Sets Date for Resumption of International Flights
National carrier Uganda Airlines has announced 1st October 2020 as the date on which it will resume international flights
This follows President Yoweri Museveni decision last week to lift the ban on international travel, allowing tourists and other visitors to come in the country.
Air travel as most of the economy has been on stand still since March this year becuase of the Covid19 lockdown.
In a statement released on Monday evening, the Airline announced that the resumption flights will be to and from cities including Nairobi, Dar–es-Salaam, Juba Mogadishu, Bujumbura, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and Mombasa.
“Our plans for network expansion will continue and we launch scheduled operations to Johannesburg, Kinshasha, Harare and Lusaka in the coming months.”
According to the new directives, any passengers arriving in Uganda must be in possession of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from an accredited laboratory in the country of origin.
This test should have been conducted within the last 72 hours before the scheduled departure from the country of origin. Returning Ugandans with negative PCR results will be allowed to go home, and the Health Ministry will be provided with their address for easy monitoring.
