Wakiso Giants Set to Appoint Douglas Bamweyana as New Coach

Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants FC is set to officially unveil former Maroons coach Douglas Bamweyana as their new tactician.

ChimpReports understands that the club’s Executive Committee has agreed to entrust the ever-smart and vastly experienced Bamweyana with the heavy task ahead of the 2020/2021 season.

“For now, only a verbal agreement is in place. We haven’t put pen to paper but all in good time,” Bamweyana told this website.

Bamweyana is expected to be officially announced the new tactician alongside Richard Wasswa who will serve as his immediate assistant.

Apart from Maroons, Bamweyana has in the past worked with Express Football Club and Sports Club Villa. He also handled Makerere University in the University Football League.

His soon-to-be assistant, Richard Wasswa was previously at Vipers Sports Club before being sacked midway through the previous season together with Edward Golola and the entire technical team.

Previously, the Purple Sharks were reportedly in advanced negotiations with former Uganda Cranes striker David Obua but both parties failed to agree on working terms.

If Bamweyana is confirmed, he will become the fifth coach to handle Wakiso Giants in their second top flight experience after Kefa Kisala, Charles Livingstone Mbabazi, Deo Serwadda, and Steven Bengo.

Last season, Wakiso Giants finished in the 10th on the log with 30 points after the abrupt ending of the league.
