Rwanda: Kagame’s Son, Ivan Cyomoro Named RDB Board Member

Ivan Kagame Cyomoro, 30, has been appointed as a board member of the influential Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

The appointment was announced on Monday night by Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente.

Cyomoro’s new role was passed by Cabinet sitting at the president’s office yesterday.

President Paul Kagame chaired the meeting.

He is the second child of the president to work with government after his sister Ange Kagame.

Other members of RDB board are Itzhak Fisher (Chairman), Evelyn Kamagaju (Vice Chairman), Alice Nkulikiyinka (member), Diane Karusisi (member), Eric Kacou (member), Solange Uwituze (member), Liban Soleman Abdi (member) and Faith Keza (member).

Cyomoro attended a course at the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2010.

He also worked with the Ministry of Defence.

President Kagame said then that Cyomoro chose a military career himself.

During his visit to the military academy in 2010, Kagame said he did not take Cyomoro to any other military institution because West Point produces accomplished leaders who are capable of facing both contemporary and future challenges for their country.

The Rwanda Development Board was set up by bringing together all the government agencies responsible for the entire investor experience under one roof.

This includes key agencies responsible for business registration, investment promotion, environmental clearances, privatization and specialist agencies which support the priority sectors of ICT and tourism as well as SMEs and human capacity development in the private sector.

The RDB is independent and influential. It reports directly to the President and is guided by a Board.
