Police Seals Off Kisekka Market, Blocking Mechanics Despite Museveni Directive
Police in Kampala has deployed heavily in Kisekka Market in down town Kampala, blocking all access to workers.
Police officers and LDUs early in the morning deployed in the market and cordoned it off.
Yellow tapes were also placed at the points of entry, with no body being allowed inside.
This is in spite of last night’s waiver by President Yoweri Museveni for all vehicle mechanics and those dealing in metal works to resume work.
The president while lifting some of the Covid19 shutdown restrictions, said vehicle mechanics would be allowed to work because they are needed by truck drivers who are moving cargo into and around the country.
Police did not give an immediate response as to why they deployed in Kisekka which is the biggest vehicle service hub in the country.
It remained unclear whether or not the deployment was for screening of mechanics as by publication of this story, there was no screening taking place.
The Uganda Police spokesman Fred Enaga when reached this morning, referred us to Kampala Metropolitan Police, who he said had made the deployment.
The KMP spokesman Patrick Onyango was still unavailable to comment.
