NRM Rebel MP Commends Museveni Strategic Leadership in Managing COVID

Manjiya County Member of Parliament, John Baptist Nambeshe has commended President Yoweri Museveni’s commitment and regulations in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nambeshe, a National Resistance Movement party “rebel” member, said Museveni has highly scored against his counterparts in the region in the management of the highly contagious disease.

“I must salute President Museveni for providing strategic leadership in this battle to curb the spread of this deadly COVID-19 virus,” Nambeshe told ChimpReports.

The legislator however, noted that Uganda like many countries has not crossed the line yet, adding that another extension of the lockdown was inevitable since a lot is still at stake as far as the management of the disease is concerned.

“To have extended the regulation days (lockdown), we must bear with him because there is a lot to be desired. He has scored in the previous lockdown and no doubt we shall register success,” he added.

Besides the lockdown, President Museveni has emphasized maintaining of measures of enforcing social distancing, regularly sanitizing surfaces, eating healthy, and for people who are sneezing and coughing to self-isolate in their homes and contact medical authorities if their condition worsens.

Uganda has tested samples from over40,000 persons on a routine basis and registered 121 positive cases, majority being truck drivers from neighboring countries.

Over 60 recovered COVID patients have been discharged from Mulago National Referral Hospital, Entebbe Grade B, Arua and Hoima.

During the last address Museveni, the spread of the disease is under control but not yet fully eliminated.

“We have somehow tamed the virus, although we cannot say we have eliminated it,” said Museveni.
