UPDF Soldier, Three others Charged with Murder of their Mother, Remanded
MBARARA: A UPDF soldier, his two brothers and their father, who were arrested early this week for allegedly killing their mother before burning the body have been charged with murder.
The group, all residents of Rwampara District, appeared before Mbarara Magistrate’s Court presided over by Ms Daphine Ayebare on
Thursday.
The court heard that Pte Irema Saul Barimpa 28 a soldier attached to Mountain Division in Kabarole district connived with his two brothers Innocent Gumoshabe 22, Esau Gumisiriza, 18 and their father Rogers Barimpa 57, to kill their mother Loy Ainomugisha Barimpa on April 10, 2020 in Rwampara district.
‘’The accused and others at large during the night of 10th April 2020 at unknown time in Rwampara district with malice afore thought
and unlawfully killed Ainomugisha Loy Barimpa,” Ms Ayebare read the charges in court to the suspects.
Ms Ayebare said since the case was capital in nature, the suspects could not take plea and they could only seek for bail in a higher court and remanded them to Kakiika Prison Kyamugorani till May 18th.
‘’This case is capital in nature and it cannot be heard by this court. Your right to apply for bailis in High court you are remanded to the 18th of May,” Ms Ayebare said
Private Barimpa and his two brothers are said to have connived with their father Rogers Barimpa to kill their mother Ainomugisha
Barimpa over disagreement on land which they accused her (victim) of selling.
