Rukiga: 15 Held in Quarantine with School Director Over Gathering in School
At least fifteen people are being held in quarantine in Bukinda, Rukiga District after being found gathered in school premises which compromises Presidential directives on gatherings.
The School Director of Mathematics High school,
who gave them shelter in the school, is also held under quarantine.
Of the fifteen, some hail from Kyenjojo and Kamwengye districts. It’s not understood whether the arrested are students who were being taught.
President Museveni recently banned all the gatherings of more than five people a preventive measure against the spread of coronavirus. All schools in the country were also suspended.
The Rukiga Resident District Commissioner Pulkeria Muhindo who doubles as the District Coronavirus Task Force Chairperson, speaking to our reporter said that she rushed to the school with Health workers when informed by local leaders on Tuesday and found the students at school.
Muhindo revealed that their temperatures were measured by Health workers from Kakatunda Health center III and all were found normal. He added that, they decided to put them under institutional quarantine after finding that some of them were from Kyenjojo and Kamwengye and therefore could have travelled.
The School Director Nelson Tugumirize claims all the 15 people are his relatives.
He said four of them were his biological children while others are his relatives who had visited him.
He however said that he will follow the guidelines of the Resident District Commisioner.
