No Registration of Candidates Is Ongoing – UNEB
Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has dismissed information that has been spreading indicating that the Board is stressing parents to pay examination fees at this time when the country is focused on COVID 19 pandemic.
According to the statement issued by UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule Musamba on Sunday, no registration is going on as clearly communicated by UNEB on March 19th 2020.
“This is completely false. Online registration of candidates for 2020 examinations was due to start on 1st April 2020. However, H.E the President announced a number of measures aimed at controlling COVID 19 pandemic which included closure of schools,” said Ms Kalule.
On March 19th 2020, UNEB announced that registration of candidates which was supposed to begin on 1st April had been put on hold until the schools resume.
“This still stands as official position position of UNEB. UNEB has not sent out any other notice about the commencement of registration or demanding payment of examination fees from schools,” Ms Kalule added.
She also said that whichever parent received any phone call from anyone demanding examination fees payment should ignore.
“We appeal to candidates to concentrate on studying from home as guided by the Ministry of Education and Sports.”
