Masaza Cup: Buvuma Names Afani Ikoba as New Gaffer
The management of Buvuma Ssaza team has intensified preparations for forthcoming 2020 Masaza Cup edition by appointing Afani Ikoba as their new head coach.
Ikoba appointment was confirmed on Friday evening by the county chief Mbuubi Lawrence Kayizzi who expressed confidence in the newly appointed tactician.
“We have a lot of confidence in our new coach Ikoba Afani and we are hopeful that he will guide us to glory this year. We are to work hand in hand with the coach as we aim for success in this year’s event,” Kayizzi noted.
Afani Ikoba beat competition from Shadrakah Nsobya who was at the helm of the county last year and Robert Mukiibi to land the coaching role.
The sieving committee is however, yet to name Afani’s immediate backroom staff for the foreseeable tenure.
Last week, Buvuma named a 12 man management Committee in preparation for the June masaza competition.
In the history of the prestigious tournament, Buvuma has never gone past the group stages.
Last season, the Islanders were pitted in Masengere group against Ssingo, Bugerere, Gomba and Ssese.
