Maroons Coach Bamweyana Sent Packing

Maroons Football Club has reportedly parted ways with their gaffer Douglas Bamweyana following a string of unconvincing results.

The decision made the club management today morning comes after the team’s poor performance in the last five league games.

The Prison warders have not recorded any point in their last five games with a most defeat met at the hands of Express FC (0-1) on Wednesday this week.

Maroons had previously lost to Vipers SC (5-0), Busoga United (0-1), Wakiso Giants (2-1) and KCCA FC (2-1).

The club’s last league victory was on 31st January, 2020 at home against Tooro United (2-1) and it has been a point drought since then.

The tactician leaves the Uganda Prison Service Bank-rolled team in the thick of relegation struggle, sitting in 14th place with only 22 points after 25 matches.

Bamweyana, previously coached at Makerere University, Express and Sports Club Villa until his appointment on 17th July, 2019 when he replaced George ‘Best’ Nsimbe who had stepped down from his role before Robert Sekweyama could take over on an interim basis.

The club now has the two month break to appoint a new head Coach who will look to help the Luzira based outfit escape the difficult hurdle in the remaining five league games after the two month break off.
