Cindy Reigns over Cricket Oval, Fills Dreaded Venue

Keen music lovers have witnessed Cinderella Sanyu’s music career grow right from when she was 6 years as she started singing at her local church in Ntinda and by the time she hit 16, Cindy is remembered to have taken part in ‘Capital Radio All Stars Talent Search’ where she came third in the competition.

In 2003, Cindy and two other fellow singers Lillian Mbabazi and Jackie Chandiru formed a girl group dubbed ‘Blu*3′ that saw her realize her talent as she, together with the group, won several accolades including ‘Best Artist or Group from Uganda and ‘Best Music Video from Uganda in the 2005 Kisima Music Awards, Video of the Year (Hitaji) in the 2005 Pearl of Africa Music Awards.

The group flourished until 2008 when she quit to embark on her solo career.

A performance like no other, Cindy surely gave it her all.

As people thought she had taken a wrong turn which would probably mark her downfall  and the end of her music career, it proved to be the beginning of her success journey as she shocked the world with her hit singles Mbikooye, One and Only and Nawewe among others off her debut Album ‘Ayokyayokya’ in 2009.

Back to the ‘Boom Party Concert’ held over the weekend at Lugogo Cricket Oval, there are no better words to best describe its success as all went beyond everyone’s expectations that saw Cindy claim her position in the industry and thus her title the ‘King Her Self’, a title she self proclaims.

The entrance, among other facts, was over crowded as partiers were seen struggling in not less than 3 long lines. Could this be due to poor event organization or rather the overwhelming numbers? We are yet to analyse the fact.

By 7:30 PM all the way to about 10:00 PM, the lines were the same, in fact, the number of those at the entry was more than those who were already inside the venue.

While struggling in the lines, our reporter over heard many blaming the event’s organizer, Nexus Events for poor planning as there was no VIP or Ordinary entrance but all the partiers accessed the venue using only one entrance.

To make matters worse, revelers were buying tickets at the entrance, an activity that caused delay and commotion at the gate.

About venue set up and performances, all was well as there was an awesome action-packed line up of performers including; Aziz Azion, Mikie Wine, Maro and clever J among others who gave fans and music lovers their best before the main act of the night appeared on stage.

Clever J bringing back the ‘Manzi wanani’ spark.

Utmost rhythm and electric performance was what welcomed one to the well decorated and organized venue.

Cindy came on stage amidst cheers and a thunderous applause from fans. She started off her performance with her song ‘Ayokyayokya’ all the way to ‘Nze Manyi,’ a song they did while still in Blu*3 among others.

It should be noted that, last week, Cindy while addressing journalists in regards to the Boom Party at the Bight of Benin, revealed that most of her fellow singers had shied away at first when she invited them to help her perform at the show for fear of being part of a flopped show, but was amazed to see them finally show up for the concert.
