Nateete: Man Drowns in Deep Water Well
A man working as a casual laborer drowned and died yesterday, Sunday in a water well in Church zone, Nateete, a Kampala suburb.
The deceased was identified as Majidu Mubiru, aged 44, who had gone to dig a private water well at the residence of a one Robert Sonko.
According to Kampala Metropolitan police, this accident happened at around 11am on Sunday.
It is said that the deceased died when the support rope he was using broke while he was inside the deep hole hence drowning.
“While inside, it’s alleged he fell off the rope that was taking him, falling into water and died instantly,” said police
In a statement, Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said that fire and rescue services were introduced at the scene immediately.
“The body was retrieved and conveyed to city mortuary for postmortem as investigations are still ongoing into the matter,” he added
