Lemon truck accident claims one

One person died on the spot and 3 others were seriously injured after a Tipper truck registration number UBF 824H carrying sacks of lemons heading to Busia collided with Mitsubishi pickup with a Kenyan registration number plate KCN 844X which was coming from Busia heading to Iganga.

The accident occurred Friday afternoon at Muwayo village along Bugiri-Tororo highway.

James Mubi, the Busoga East region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident.

The deceased was only identified as Dilausi the driver of the tipper a resident of busimi village Kibale subcounty namutumba district.

The injured were identified as Mulumba Dominic (32), Mukose Paul (50), and Wambi Micheal (54) all residents of Kibale subcounty in Namutumba district.

According to Mubi, the injured were rushed to Bugiri Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Mitsubishi pickup took off

He attributed the cause of the accident to over speeding adding that the wreckage of the vehicles were towed to bugiri police station.

He advised drivers to drive carefully in this festive season saying many people are travelling upcountry for Christmas holidays.

By press time the body was still at Bugiri Hospital for postmortem as investigation continue.
