Kiboga: Kidnappers Kill Three Children After Parents Failed To Pay Ransom

Unknown kidnappers left a family of a man identified Hassan Barigye in grief after he failed to raise a ransom of one million shillings to secure his children.

Barigye, a peasant  and resident of Kawanda B village, Lwamata Town council in Kiboga district lost his three children to kidnappers last week.

Barigye and wife had reportedly gone to the garden when the children disappeared.

It is said that the children identified as Sulaiti Mutesi, 4, Nayebare Nusura,7, and Asimwe Nankunda aged 10 years old  were kidnapped from their home and the kidnappers left behind a note with their mobile number to reach them for negotiations.

Since then, the family had been searching for them while negotiating with their captors on phone, but was shocked on Sunday to find all of them killed near home.

Reports indicate that the captors initially demanded for Shs 500,000 which the family raised and sent, but they later doubled the amount to Shs1,000,000.

After three days of negotiations, the family failed to raise the extra money which prompted the assailants to kill the minors.

The bodies of the deceased were picked and taken to Kiboga district hospital for postmortem.

However, the Sunday grisly incident seems to have taken the area police by surprise since they had not closed in on the suspect for three days.

Acts of kidnap for ransom have become so rampant in the recent past and many people have lost their loved ones in the crime.

Police has on several occasions warned the public especially the families of victims not to engage criminals to negotiate ransoms, but the cautions have not been adhered to.
